Ibn Sina Foundation - Projects & Programs

Community Medical Center provides low cost medical and dental care to uninsured and indigent patients in Southwest Houston. Currently, the clinic is open for medical and dental services Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The clinic currently employs primary care physicians, who volunteer their time for clinical services. Paid and voluntary dentists also provide dental services.

Patients receive immunizations, health screenings (diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, etc.), low cost lab services, and prescriptions are given free of charge if they are available. Many pharmaceutical companies provide sample and bulk medicine for indigent patients to this clinic.   Dental services range from preventative measures (cleaning, fluoride treatment, etc.) to fillings and root canals.  The clinic also works hard to educate its patients about the importance of medical and dental care by providing specialty educational sessions with topics ranging from respiratory diseases to proper diet and nutrition.

A minimal fee of $25 is requested from patients for medical services rendered at the clinic ($40 for dental services and x-rays).  If patients are unable to pay, special arrangements and exceptions can be made.  By building valued relationships with many area businesses, businesses that in large part employ the clinic’s patients, Community Medical Center can offset a portion of patient fees from donations received from these businesses.  Local business owners have seen the clear benefit of providing medical services to their work force even though they are unable to provide them with insurance.  Donations made to Community Medical Center help to ensure that employees are healthy and able to work.

In order to ensure that patients are knowledgeable about and able to utilize the services of various social agencies available within Houston communities, Community Medical Center collaborates with the follow organizations:

  • The Rose Breast Clinic/The Rose Diagnostic Center
  • Gateway to Care
  • Cullen Trust for Health Care
  • Houston Foundation
  • House of Charity
